1. Who operates Cala
Cala is operated by Daily Ventures, a New Mexico limited liability company. In this policy, “Cala,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Daily Ventures. This policy applies to Cala's website, trip pages, and related services at withcala.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in the following categories:
- Account information. Your name, email address, profile image, authentication provider, and identifiers needed to create and secure your account.
- Trip information. Trip names, destinations, dates, cover photos, membership, roles, guest placeholders, invitations, and activity within a trip.
- Shared-cost information. Expenses, deposits, bookings, balances, receipt images, item assignments, payment status, notes, and reimbursement handles you choose to provide.
- Communications. Messages and information you send to support, plus delivery information for sign-in and invitation emails.
- Technical information. IP address, device and browser details, session cookies, request logs, and security events generated when you use the service.
A trip organizer may add someone as a placeholder before that person joins Cala. In that case, we may receive the person's name and invitation details from the organizer.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- create accounts and authenticate users;
- create trips, manage invitations, and show trip activity;
- calculate shared costs, balances, deposits, and settlements;
- store and display receipts and trip cover photos;
- send service messages, sign-in links, and support replies;
- prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access;
- debug, maintain, and improve Cala; and
- comply with law and enforce our terms.
4. What other people can see
Cala is collaborative. Information you add to a trip may be visible to that trip's members and invited guests. Public trip landing pages may show the trip name, destination, dates, cover image, and limited membership information chosen for the page. Do not add information you are not comfortable sharing with the group.
5. When we disclose information
We may disclose information:
- to service providers that host the app, store data, deliver email, provide authentication, monitor security, or support requested features;
- to trip members and invitees as described above;
- when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect people, or investigate fraud and security issues; or
- as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Payments and financial information
Cala records what a group says was paid or owed and may link to third-party payment services. Cala does not hold your group's money and does not collect or store bank-account or payment-card credentials. Transactions completed through another payment service are governed by that service's terms and privacy practices.
7. Data retention and deletion
We retain account and trip information while it is needed to provide Cala, maintain group records, resolve disputes, protect the service, and meet legal obligations. Retention periods vary by data type. Backup copies and security logs may remain for a limited period after deletion.
You may request access, correction, export, or deletion by emailing help@withcala.com. We may need to verify your identity. Some records may be retained where required by law or necessary to protect the rights of other trip members.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so use a secure email account and keep trip invitation links within the intended group.
9. Your privacy choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, and to appeal a decision about a privacy request. You may exercise a request through the contact address below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
10. Children
Cala is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not create an account. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Cala, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
11. International use
Cala is operated from the United States. If you use Cala from another country, information may be processed and stored in the United States or other places where our service providers operate.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Cala changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the date above. Material changes may also be communicated through the service or by email.
